Artist Jacob Pfeiffer has embarked on a long journey covering 80-plus years and two continents. During the course of his amazing life, he developed his artistic talent, painting scenes that show the pioneer days through contemporary times. A show featuring his work is on display in the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum’s Arts Corridor through December.
Growing up in Romania, Pfeiffer began drawing pictures of animals as a young child. Pfeiffer came to the United States when he was 19, worked at various jobs and took art classes at night. Soon, a prominent Cincinnati gallery offered him a solo show that was a great success.
Pfeiffer, who moved to Las Cruces in 2013, specializes in oil painting on canvas and linen. Pfeiffer says his work has evolved over the years, depending on the subject matter. He has received dozens of awards and his work has been displayed in galleries all over the country.
His works in this special exhibit feature scenes of Native Americans and early settlers, animals, and even scenes of local sites like the Museum and the Las Cruces Farmers’ & Crafts Market. There are 26 total pieces included in the show.
The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum will be open to visitors next Thursday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission for adults is 5 dollars. Discounts are provided to children, seniors, and military personnel.
