Science Enthusiasts Can Celebrate All Things Space-Related During the Las Cruces Space Festival
The Las Cruces Space Festival is an annual celebration of space-related activity and interest in southern New Mexico and beyond. The festival is free to participate in, and open to all, with the cost of activities, presentations, displays, and exhibits all covered by sponsors. On Wednesday, April 10th, Space Festival Week will feature “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
“2001” is a story of evolution. Sometime in the distant past, someone or something nudged evolution by placing a monolith on Earth. Evolution then enabled humankind to reach the moon’s surface, where yet another monolith is found, one that signals the monolith placers that humankind has evolved that far. Now a race begins between computers and human to reach the monolith placers. The winner will achieve the next step in evolution, whatever that may be.
The Las Cruces Space Festival is about celebrating that rich history, showcasing the work that is going on in this region and the talent we have here, and inspiring the next generation with the possibilities of the future. We work with many partner organizations across the community to provide an event for people of all ages and interests.
Concessions served including snacks, refreshments, beer, wine, and spirits. We will have a line-up that includes expert presentations, science and technology demonstrations, art, theater, music and film, hands-on experiments, and rocket launches. We really are aiming to have something for everyone!
At Sonoma Palms Apartments in Las Cruces, New Mexico, we pride ourselves on informing our residents about all the upcoming events our beautiful community has to offer. Don’t hesitate to join this event on Wednesday!
