Celebrate the Wonderment of Natural Landmarks During the Gila River Festival
The Gila Conservation Coalition hosts the 15th annual Gila River Festival September 19-22, 2019 in Silver City, New Mexico and along the Gila River. The Gila River Festival is the Southwest's premier nature festival, bringing people together to celebrate New Mexico's last wild river. The future of the Gila River is dependent upon us, and this festival is designed to foster a deeper intimacy with the Gila River.
The four-day festival events include river outings, expert-led hikes, and field trips, dynamic presentations, music, community art projects, hands-on activities, and more. Climate Activist, Tim DeChristopher, will give the Gila River Festival keynote presentation, addressing our moral and ethical responsibility to safeguard the climate for fellow species and future human generations.
The Gila River Festival's mission is to educate and engage diverse audiences in the natural and cultural heritage of the Gila River and its watershed through an annual multi-disciplinary nature festival. Our goal is to provide enriching opportunities for participants to experience the Gila River first-hand and from diverse perspectives, creating a deeper intimacy with the river and a strong sense of place.
